Raised by Wolves: Fall 2009 Collection
September 29, 2009

So today, the new Raised by Wolves website went up in coordination with their Fall 2009 drop. For this collection, entitled Black Ice, I was fortunate enough to get a chance to help shoot the lookbook with all of our closest friends here in Ottawa. Black Ice features collaborations with the likes of La Messie, Mike Jones from Mishka and Actual Pain. You can be sure to check out the collection and buy a tee from their online store, here.
a suit…really?
September 28, 2009
In a chitchat with Marcus, he asked me this question: What do you think you will be wearing in a year from now? The question was the beginning to a series of confusing thoughts in my head. I stood there baffled by that seemingly banal inquiry. “I have a feeling you’ll be wearing a suit or something…” he proceeded. Those words which first seemed foolish and humorous soon became not as farfetched as they resonated in my head for a few days. I found in the depths of a forgotten closet of my house, a pair of vintage brown leather oxford shoes (WITH a wooden sole). They were almost too beautiful to be unworn. However, the only manner to be wearing them would be completed with a nice light toned suit. I caught myself in the midst of searching for a suit on Jcrew and actually found 2 to perfectly assemble the outfit I had imagined…Marcus you know something on and beyond my own knowledge hahaha

React Create
September 25, 2009
Came across a pretty dope blog concept today…It’s entitled React Create, basically: “It’s simple: I react to things I see. Things I like. Cool stuff. Things I feel strongly about… and not just design. Those are posted in the REACT column. The CREATE column is a forum for presenting creative responses or alternative reactions to the things that inspire me. Some direct, some indirect, others more nuanced…” -Dylan. For Montrealers, you might recognize some of his work, through Brakeless’ new t-shirt line with the creative minds behind Sometimes. And for the Beasts, you might remember the 1 off Joy Division Nike Blazer’s he did in 06. All white, custom Factory box, etched JD quotes on the swoosh, iconic Unknown Pleasure album design on the tongue label…

Norml | Penfield Pop-Up
September 22, 2009
So a few weeks back Ian Kennedy of Tiger Distro alongside most of the Montreal retail mafia invaded Ottawa. I wasn’t really too sure what was actually happening because I’ve been pretty out of the loop since I’ve parted ways with Norml back in January, but I got an email from Yann today asking me if I could help shoot some photos of the new Penfield Pop-Up shop. Without prior knowledge of what the space looked like, I figured I’d try my best to help pull through with a few shots especially since Ian has always been one of my favourite dudes in the industry. Upon entering the space, I was quite awe-struck. What Ian has done with the space is nothing short of incredible. Anyhow without further ado, here’s what you can expect to find when you roll into the Norml x Penfield pop-up shop.

Ricky Spricky
September 20, 2009

Earlier this summer, I drove Ricky’s car for a beer run during one of our regular weekly sessions at the Beaver Bowl. As he gave me his keys, he thoughtfully decided to warn me by saying… “oh yeah, I don’t really have brakes on my car.” At that point, I figured how bad could it be right? He did make it here with that vehicle after all and honestly there was nothing I could use more than an ice cold brew. So after getting in and starting the engine, I gave’r to the first stop sign and ended up running right through it while I pressed as hard as I could on the brakes. The car eventually stopped, but as you could imagine, I was scared shitless. Relating that back to Ricky, the dude is basically insane. He is a total loose ball and If you ever get a chance to see him skate you’re gonna get super pumped. On this day, he found a skill saw in that car of his and decided to go at his board with it. Here he is with a huge frontside air on the vert wall at legacy skatepark.
